April Dynamics and Q1 Summary

Georgian International Airports registered 265,690 local and international passengers and operated 1,393 flights in April, 2022. This is a 155% increase compared to the same period in 2021. These numbers mean that, the dynamics of air transportation in Georgia is rapidly returning to the most active and fruitful period, that is before pandemic period  of 2019 year.

According to the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency, in Q1 of 2022, Georgian airports served 565% more passengers, than in the same period of 2021, and compared to the first three months of 2019, passenger traffic at Georgian airports is restored by 69%.

In Q1 of 2022, a total of 3,978 flights were operated at Georgian airports (regular flights 2,996 and charter flights 982). Compared to the number of flights in 2021, flights increased significantly by 207% and compared to by 76.50%.

According to the number of passengers transported in the past months of 2022, Turkish Airlines is the leader in the Georgian aviation market. The airline has a 13% market share and carries 90,258 passengers. With the same percentage (13%) on a second place is the low-cost airline Wizz Air with 89,442 passengers.
