Post COVID-19 period, open borders and 2021 passengers flow

Though, the global pandemic had a major impact on the number of aviation passengers in 2020, which was reflected in a 6 times decrease in passenger traffic compared to the previous year, 2021 turned out to be much more promising.

In compliance with all regulations and safety norms, the borders were opened and flights were gradually restored, which in turn contributes to the active growth of passenger traffic. In 2021, during the summer navigation season, 45 different airlines will operate at the Georgian International Airports.

According to the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency, in 2021 (5 months) the country’s airports served 359,906 passengers, which is        -49% less compared to same period of 2020. However, with all the restored flights, GCAA expects an active increase in passengers number by the end of the year.
