In the first quarter of 2023, the passenger flow in Georgian airports exceeded the pre-pandemic level. According to the Civil Aviation Agency, in the first three months of 2023, Georgian airports served 1,046,558 passengers, which is 50% more than the number of passengers in the same period of 2022, and compared to 2019, this is a 3% increase.
According to January-March 2023 data, Tbilisi International Airport served 713,660 passengers. The increase compared to the same period of 2022 is 41%. In addition, the airport returned to the quantitative index of the same period of 2019 by 89%.
253,073 passengers were transported through Kutaisi International Airport. The growth is 108% compared to the first quarter of 2022, and 61% compared to 2019. As for Batumi International Airport, it served 77,077 passengers, which is a 13% increase compared to the first quarter of 2022, and a 49% increase compared to 2019.
The positive dynamics of the growth of passenger flow is also recorded in the airports of local destination. According to the data of the first three months of 2023, Mestia served 2,494 passengers, which is 9% more than in the same period of 2022. As for Ambrolauri Airport, it received 254 passengers, which is 49% less than in 2022, but 30% more than in the same period of 2019.
In the first quarter of 2023, a total of 4,839 flights were carried out at Georgian airports. The number of regular flights was 3,802, and the number of charter flights was 1,037. Compared to the number of flights in the same period of 2022, the number of flights increased by 22%, and in relation to the same period of 2019, the recovery rate is 93%.
