Summary of Year 2022

According to the summarized data of 2022 provided by Georgian Civil Aviation Agency, the flights in Georgia were restored by 88%, and the passenger flow by 85%. Georgian airports served a total of 4,411,733 passengers, which is 78% more than the number of passengers registered in the same period of 2021.

Last year, Tbilisi International Airport served 2,998,785 passengers, which is an increase of 78% compared to the same period in 2021. 796,063 passengers were transported through Kutaisi International Airport, which is a 182% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, Batumi International Airport served 616,885 passengers and recorded a 20% increase compared to 2021.

There is also a positive dynamic of passenger flow growth in local destination airports. Mestia served 10,279 passengers in 2022, which is 99% more than in 2021, while Ambrolauri Airport received 2,999 passengers, which is a 44% increase.

In 2022, a total of 21,430 flights were carried out at Georgian airports. The number of regular flights was 16,290, and charter flights – 5,140, which means that compared to the number of flights in 2021, airports have increased number by 43%.

Overall, year 2022 was quite successful for each of Georgian airports (both local and international), GCAA has recorded positive numbers in terms of flights (domestic/international) and passengers (local/international).
